Imagine now that you are standing at the top of a beautiful staircase. There are ten steps leading down to a place of deep relaxation and comfort. With each step you take, you will feel yourself becoming more and more relaxed, more and more at peace.

Take the first step down, and feel your relaxation deepen. Take the second step, and feel yourself going deeper. Take the third step, and feel a wave of calm wash over you. With each step you take, you feel more and more relaxed, more and more at ease. Continue down the stairs until you reach the tenth step, and find yourself in a place of deep relaxation and peace.

Suggestion:

Now, in this deeply relaxed state, imagine a beautiful, serene place. This is your special place of relaxation and peace. As you sit or lie here, you become aware of a desire to build your assertiveness. You realize that being assertive is a natural part of who you are, and you are ready to embrace it fully.

Imagine now that you are in a situation where you need to assert yourself. See yourself standing tall, feeling calm and confident. Notice the way you carry yourself with assurance, and the clear, strong tone of your voice. This is the assertive you, ready to express your needs and desires clearly and confidently.

As you think about this situation, feel the assertiveness growing within you. You realize that your opinions and feelings are valuable, and you have the right to express them. You communicate effectively, listening attentively to others and responding with confidence and clarity. You feel comfortable and at ease, knowing that you are assertive and self-assured.

Repeat silently to yourself: "I am assertive and confident. I express my needs and desires clearly. I am calm and assured in all situations."

Visualization:
